This guided tour focuses on the Benalla CBD. Meeting at the Benalla Ceramic Mural located next to the Benalla Monash Bridge before we walk along Bridge Street and view the historic Commercial Hotel, the former Post Office site destroyed during the 60s. Further on we see the site of numerous banks and hotels. Millers Dept. Store (opened in 1891), Church St with its churches, the home of John Riley a partner in the Riley Flour Mill, the Town Hall with it's magnificent and grand facade.
The tour looks at the site of buildings lost to development but also original structures. There are also latter day buildings that have caused community discussion.
