Lake Mokoan Road, Lake Mokoan

The Winton Wetlands is a vast 8,000 hectares of wetlands and woodland rich in nature and with thousands of years of Indigenous Yorta Yorta cultural heritage. A must see for botanists and bird watchers this hauntingly beautiful landscape is home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna.

The Wetlands is also home to a fabulous tryptych mural painted by Guido van Helten during Benalla Street Art's 2016 Wall to Wall festival.

The Winton Wetlands has many stories, Indigenous, European, renewal and restoration. The Wetlands is a significant project not only just in Australia. There has been a lot of healing amongst all groups to try and unite and allow for the project to move forward in a way that takes everyone on the journey. The Winton Wetlands will be an asset that will impact significantly on the whole region.
